I just bought a premium for 2% under invoice plus free remote starter and fog lights without joining anything..its a good time to buy i think - dealers will sell at year end.

I am purchasing my Ascent through a broker and received invoice pricing but the price is still very competitive because I am not being charged any of the standard fees dealers charge. I also had contacted two dealers in the Denver area. One was keen for my business and assured me he could beat anyone's price. His quote however was $3,000 more than the broker's and the second dealer's price. I am still waiting for a second broker's price to compare. I brought the price difference to the salesman's attention and instead of addressing the price concern, he offered a completely different Ascent trim and package which of course was not what I had asked for. They do not realize I will now never do business with that dealer (including service). Another local dealer I visited for the test drive pushed the glass insurance which when I read the actual contract contradicted the terms that the sales person stipulated it would cover (another dealer I will not go to). These dealers operate with such a short term perspective. I already have financing guaranteed, come in with my wife and pretty much knew what trim level and packages we wanted. I am also new to purchasing Subaru vehicles and they knew we are in the market for yet another vehicle in July and my son will be getting his full license in July so they could and IMO should have taken the approach of winning over a family to their business. It would have been an easy sale, but they wanted to squeeze every bit out of me and it turned me off so much I will not do business with them.

Ferguson Subaru, in Broken Arrow, OK, does accept VIP pricing for the Ascent.

I was just in Glanzmann Subaru in Jenkintown, PA (Philadelphia Suburb) and they participate in the VIP Program. I was given Invoice minus 2% as soon as I mentioned the program. I have to wait until next week to order the car as the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is closed for the holidays and wont process any VIP requests until they return on January 2nd. I am ordering an Ascent Limited in Abyss Blue with Package 23 and Popular package 3 and was quoted $39,598, plus tax and tags, no dealer fees charged.

Can confirm John Hine Subaru of Temecula accepts VIP pricing. Took possession today of Ascent Limited at 2% under invoice. Great car buying experience. Thanks to the group here for all the great posts on the ins and outs of VIP pricing.

FYI:
"New Subaru" (Part of New Motors) in Erie, PA does participate in and accepts VIP pricing.
We ordered ours with the ASPCA VIP pricing with no pushback or any problems.

Save yourself the expense of being forced to make a donation (unless you really want to). You can beat VIP pricing. I paid less than VIP pricing by emailing a bunch of dealers in our area. 3 of them came back with bids below VIP pricing.

For some people the donation is a small price to pay(& for a good cause) for a easy, stress free transaction......

Maybe you can Let us know what your final “deal” turned out to be......how much under invoice you ended up paying.....:nerd:

My Premium 7 passenger with PKG#3, cargo cover, body side molding and a few other small items:

MSRP $37,970
Sales price $33,835
TAX $ 2,459
Doc Fee 85
DMV 465
State Tire fee 8.75
Total $36,852
Subaru Loyalty Certificate (500)

Out The Door Price $36,352

Sales price if you include the $500 Subaru Loyalty Certificate comes out to 12% off MSRP

I had previously posted I got 8.8% off. My math was off.

As for "stress free", I found the entire process totally stress free. I've been down this road multiple times with other vehicles, and I've always been able to get below invoice pricing unless it was for some "hot" vehicle. The key is to have a target price, email as many dealers as you can, and then play them off each other. In my case, I could have actually gotten a lower price from a dealer 3 hours away, but the tax rate at my local dealer was so much lower than the bottom line deal at the local dealer was better.

Don't let sales people intimidate or annoy you. They have a job to do and a sales manager who makes the final decision. At the end of the day, every dealer has a certain profit they must make or a sales target they have to hit. You will never know which it is. I made my offers a few days before New Years knowing dealers were trying to hit their yearly sales targets. End of the month or end of the quarter are also good times.

Finally, IMO the premium trims around here are likely easier to get deals on because the dealers all seemed to have a plethora of this trim level. They had far fewer higher level trim cars.

Good luck and happy hunting!

So, 8.8% off MSRP is greater than invoice minus 2% ? I don’t do math so I am honestly asking:dunno:
At this stage of my life I am more into “the ease of the deal” instead of the “art of the deal”.......
It seems like you enjoy doing the deal .....good for you:grin:

Ugh. Math......don't ask me to do it lol

I think I got a pretty good deal. I could have likely gotten better if I had sought out more dealers but it just wasn't worth that much more effort.

Honestly emailing a bunch of dealers is pretty simple and painless. I just sent out the emails and waited for their responses and charted it all on a spreadsheet.

We just leased a vehicle using VIP pricing at Diablo Subaru in Walnut Creek, California. It is marked as "unknown" on the Google spreadsheet...they did honor that for us.
