VSC EasyCare Gold - Not sure I got the best price (3rd Party)

I just bought a 2022 Ascent Touring and got the VSC Gold contract. I wish I had researched that more before getting the car - but my trade-in's battery kept dying so was a little more rushed than I wanted.
Long story short, the contract is 6 year / 85k miles with $100 deductible. After reading all the posts here it seems that's an odd combination and that many seem to get a 10yr/100k $0 ded for about $2lish? So I paid a lot more than that for the 6yr/85k - like a lot more (almost 2x).
Reading various posts it seems I can buy the warranty elsewhere (or the dealer later) as long as it's still in the MFG original 3yr period. If so, I am thinking of canceling (within 30 days) and then using the refund check to replace this contract.
Am I thinking straight here - and any suggestions on replacing it?

You might also drop a line to SoA that a dealer is pushing "Gold" contracts that aren't Subaru's. They might be interested. That's shady AF to have a very similar name. "What's a Coby stereo?" "It's got Sony guts!" 😣

There are several dealers that will happily sell it remotely. Flower Subaru in CO is one. @tiffanyM is the contact there. She's a delight. :)

I must have been zoning out after three plus hours working this thing. I don't recall the finance lady mentioning anything other than this offering. I also got the maintenance plan - 4 years which seems like it will be OK, but again is EasyCare - PREPAID SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CONTRACT and not directly Subaru. Can anyone validate that one or should I check in another category?
I seriously need to outsource car buying if I ever buy again...

The "Easy Care" maintenance contract is likely honored ONLY at the selling dealer. It sounds like a lousy deal all the way around. I would cancel it ASAP and shop around for the genuine article, SAS (Subaru Added Security) Gold Plus. I would also let SoA know that this dealer is steering away from the Subaru product and pushing an overpriced, 3rd party contract.

It is easy to get hoodwinked by the F&I gal/guy, they do this 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, most consumers only deal with it once every 5 years or so. They likely made $3-$4K pure profit on this shady deal. Shameful.

So I went in and canceled the EasyCare contracts. No pushback at all. She was cool, but said it would be 4-6 weeks and the refund would go to the lienholder against the loan. I'm hoping it won't take that long, but at least dealt with it for now and will check into pricing on the real McCoy SAS plans.
Thanks everyone!

I just had my first gold Plus claim completed. OBDII Evaporative leak check valve replaced (code2404). Mileage on my 2019 Limited - 50,655.

The benefits from having the Gold Plus was being able to immediately be serviced (the next day) and given a warranty loaner for the day's repair. It was diagnosed and repaired in a matter of hours at no charge. It would have cost $155 for the repair. Of course I would have had to either rent or make other arrangements for a vehicle to drive while mine was being repaired. In the past i always got loaners (during the first 3 years, but given how inventories are tight, non-warranty loaner fleets are limited.

update: This morning my dash lights were on again including eyesight and check engine, so back to the dealership and I got a loaner Ascent. No intervening fuel fill up so I know the gas cap would not be the issue. Per above, last week the evap check valve was replaced and seemingly fixed the issue. The check engine light was not blinking and the lights were fine the first two times of start up this morning. Third time the charm for lights coming on. I received a mysubaru alert about the check engine and eyesight.

Any thoughts on cause. I am not worried since it is all under warranty and I have a loaner.

Do you know what codes were thrown?
