Viofo A139 Pro Hard Wire Problems

Hi folks!

I've been off the forum for a couple years now, but rest assured, I'm now on Ascent #2 (another white Touring, 2021).

I'm puzzling over hardwiring of a Viofo A139 Pro dash cam. Everything checked out using cig adapter and a usb power pack (sensing ACC, kicking into Park mode, etc.). So now I'm using the included jumpers and have to pick my fuses (panel at driver's left knee).

I found one unused fuse port that has always-on power (#12), so that works great for the red wire jumper. But for some fuses where I subbed-in the ACC jumper, I do get keyed/button power on/off and the dash cam works great -- BUT the original function of the fuse gets disables. It disabled ILLUM (#32) which gave me a remote key error, and it disabled LAMP IG (#18) which stopped the headlights from rotating.

Connectivity checks out on the jumper (its fuse works). I'm pointing the jumper with wire lead coming out the left side, which some threads here emphasized. The only thing I can think of is that the jumper itself has a 5A fuse and the receptacle doesn't fit the Subaru mini fuse (jumper has prong holes whereas Subie fuse is whole body into a slot). So maybe impedance of a 5A fuse is screwing with the module?

Or maybe simpler, perhaps the jumper isn't contacting the left side plate and closing the circuit for the car function, even though a right side plate connection gets me camera function?

Thanks for any insights!

Okayyy... dummy me.

There are two fuse slots in the jumper body. The 5A fuse that's included in the hardwire package is for the dash cam circuit, AND the other fuse slot is for the original accessory whose fuse location we're tapping. I was *replacing * the 5A with the bigger fuse, thinking that both Original Accessory and Dash Cam were fused together when using the jumper. Me leaving the jumper's other fuse slot empty was of course leaving an open circuit for the Original Accessory.

Everything works now, regardless of which fuse location I jumper.

If anyone ever benefits from this little discussion with myself, please chime in and help me not to be permanently scarred by this!
