2" greater diameter. Same width. From tiresize.com:
Need another 1" all around. Tires in second photo are same size as stock, only difference being 40mm offset rather than 55, so 15mm further outboard. You would need another inch all around and these have significantly less than that, so I'd say no way the 245/60s would work.
Inner edge of well is at 1/2" on the tape, so only 1/2" to 5/8" clearance at full lock.

A lot of great combo's in here - subscribed!
Yep!!! Including this setup that I bought from you all, after your help finding and figuring out a setup that would fit over our massive front calipers!

  • Kumho Road Venture AT51
  • Liquid Metal Shadows

I wanted to mount A/T 3PMSF tires on my Limited, so worked out a trade of my 20" wheels for the OEM Premium 18" wheels and mounted Geolander A/T G015's in 255/55R18. I'm very satisfied with both performance and looks.
I tried to do this at my dealer, but they said no one would want them. I was hoping for either the Premium or Outback wheels.

So sharp, Robert! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help - the Shadow is a sharp wheel!
@Discount Tire, wondering if you plan on listing the 17"lm shadows as compatible with the ascent? seems like a few people have installed them. also you're probably in the best position to test out other 17"rims, which would be very helpful!

My dealer wasn't helpful either, so I just did a web search for a local used wheel company who would work with me on acquiring the used OEM Premium 18" wheels and buying my 20" wheels. Then had my local Discount Tire supply and mount the Geolanders.

This is outside of my wheelhouse but I'll suggest our fitment team look into this. As you noted, there are a few members here running 17-inch wheels so if there are multiple 17-inch options available, it would definitely beneficial to display them, not only for a more choices standpoint, but also winter combos!

...it's cool that so many are finding wheel and tire combos that work. I just wish more people were going w/a more street centric setup, wider stickier summer tires or even 21" fitments and etc.

Yes

Is this confirmed from Method? Is this within the range of the OEM 18" rims?
The OEM rims are pretty beefy, but, 1,850 pounds is sufficiently rated to give you a decent safety margin over actual GVWR.

Rims are rated for static load, so, the safety margin is nice to have.

The rear of the Ascent has the highest GVWR rating (front is less). It's 3,296 pounds, meaning, *PERFECTLY* loaded, 1,648 pounds per rear rim. No one perfectly loads, and gasoline sloshes back and forth, moving 50-100 pounds left or right (the whole contents of the tank cannot be on one side, which is why I didn't use the whole weight of a filled tank).

The Ascent Touring and Limited rims (20") have 102H rated tires, which are load rated at 1,874 pounds (the 18" tires on the other trims is higher rated at 2,039 pounds, simply because of more sidewall and air).

And, to your final question, yes, Method is who states 1,850 pounds:

Just installed my wheels and tires. First, I want to start by saying upon removal of stock 18” oem wheels and tires I noted rubbing by looking inside the wheel well of both sides. Now it was very slight and about 2 inches in length. Again only observed it and never felt or heard anything with 3k miles driven on them. Now the good news. Just threw on some Goodyear wrangler duratrac 265/60/18 with some kmc 708 wheels in satin black. Looks sweet and love the ride. Pics attached. I’ll try and post better pics when I get home. Peace.
