Do you still have the oem spare under there? With the diameter difference between oem and your 265/60-18’s it’s probably best to go ahead and get that full size spare and not even carry the oem spare.
still have the OEM spare under the vehicle. I do not have a full size spare. I’ll have to do some more research as to why this is necessary. So far I’ve heard it is recommended. Can affect the AWD and CVT? I don’t know what size the OEM spare is; is the 245/60r18 with 29.6” diameter or not even that big?

Simply stated, a spare tire that's not the same diameter as the tires you are running on the four corners can destroy your AWD drivetrain. This is not a Subaru thing...it's the case with all 4WD and AWD systems. A mis-matched tire diameter at one corner will rotate at a different speed as measured in "rotations per mile" and that messes things up in the drivetrain. Generally speaking, the difference cannot be more than a few percentage points which give wiggle room for "new" spare vs worn tires. The damage can happen pretty quickly, too.

I can appreciate that. Is this theoretical, or has anyone experienced damage or problems from having to run a smaller spare in those (rare) situations. With this in mind then, I would have to assume that the spare tire mounted in any model subaru should have the same diameter tire/wheel as the OEM equipment right? Is this correct?

I did not check my ascent nor my OB spare size (or diameter). I ran into a situation when I did have to mount my spare on my OB. I was soft-roading in the mounains with my OB and blew a side wall from a rock. Had to drive on the spare home ~300km.

It's really happened.

Tires should be within 1/4-inch of tire circumference or about 2/32-inch of each other in remaining tread depth. Besides damage to the always on AWD system, if mismatched tires are run up front, it will also mess with other systems, such as Active Torque Vectoring.

If the spare will not fit in the normal location, folks who are serious about up-sizing that far have the option of carrying the spare in an alternative location, such as up on the roof rack or on a hitch receiver mounted tire carrier. Many folks who "overland" in a variety of vehicles have to do this for exactly the same reason...their appropriately sized/rated spare will not fit in the OEM location after choosing "biggie" tires.

A lot of folks also forget speedo-odo calibration issues with up-sizing, too...

What was the total cost, and did you get TPMS installed?

I picked up the KMC Bully 708 with 38mm offset. Load rating meets minimum of 1750lbs. Had a nice low offset for a wider stance and more aggressive stance. The wheels tucked in does not look as good.

I went with a larger diameter tire MultimileWild Country XTX 265/60r18. No rub on or off road so far. 0.9” larger. Gives a nice 0.5” lift.

I used the stock OEM rims to mount Haakapeliitta9 studded snows in the 235/65r18 configuration. 0.5” larger.

Unfortunately aftermarket rims are a bit expensive. About $2000 CAD. 2019 Canadian Ascents do NOT have TPMS. Thank goodness. I likely would not have installed them if they did have them on the OEM rims.

That said, if I were to do it all over again, I would definitely get 1 of the 4 17" rims that are verified to fit the Ascent. I love the look and capability of that nice tall sidewall.

That is not a bad deal and even right around the price I figure the whole set to be. What are the 17" rims you're talking about?

Its. RSSW Velocity Alloy...
I dont have much info about the wheels..
I got it here in canada from canadiantire...
Hi, How is it going with the RSSW velocity rims. I am planning to order those from the Canadian tire here (Ajax,ON) Does that go well with Ascent 2019 without any additional hub fittings. I am planning for 245/60/18 Michelin x-ice.

WoW! Awesome. It looks so much better! Enjoy and safe travels.

I'm using the Method Rally MR 502s. Be careful about weight rating on addition to size. Initially Tirerack sold me some beautiful Sparco Terras that were the right size but not rated for the Ascents weight.
Yeah, that was the issue. I wanted the Enkei TSR-X, but they were rated for 1500. These are rated for 1800 pounds and change.

I was thinking about downgrading the 20" wheels on my 2019 Limited. I was looking at the Liquid Metal Shadow 18X8 5-114.30 40 BKMTXX matched with some Michelin Defender LTX M/S 245/60R18 tires from Discount Tire. Will these work without rubbing or needing a lift kit?
