its billing part outside of America not actual P# ...
no way to tell if its new Subaru CVTF LV -Amber Color for
CVT Fluid for ALL Ascent and 2020+ Legacy / Outback (TR690) 2.4L Turbo models
Yes there is. I looked it up on the foreign parts site. It's the old TR690 fluid that WILL kill our TR690's.

do you have "foreign " P# for correct one ?
Sadly, I couldn't find one in his region yet. Still working on that. I then will need to confirm the new OBXT TR690 fluid cross reference. But, remember that some regions don't sell the FA24F/TR690 combo. For instance, Japan sells the OB with a 1.8T - Australia is too far.

I am checking into the WRX next.

@J g you CANNOT use that CVT fluid in the Ascent. It WILL destroy it. You MUST replace it with the CVT fluid that I posted in my OP. You WILL need to do a FULL flush of the CVT and cooler and lines. If that fluid was put in, you may have already damaged clutch packs and slipped the chain. I've already had to help United States owners who had dealerships put in that fluid and toasted their CVT's in the process (it's actually what prompted my OP).
I have not consented to anything, I got that quote today- the car is still at the shop. Is it recommended to change the fuel filter or is it maintenance free? Thanks!

Awesome! Let me see if I can get you the proper part number for the CVT fluid. I do not think it will fix your shuddering problem though - I think a new AWD transfer clutch will be necessary to resolve that. Unless the CVT was replaced there.

Was the CVT replaced in Germany? If so, do you have the service invoice for it?

I replaced the CVT both times in Las Vegas. The last replacement was in mid 2021

Ok, great. Proper fluid and numbers.

That makes me lean towards the AWD transfer clutch. They will need the proper fluid to refill once they replace the clutch pack. I'm still trying to find the correct part number for Germany.

It's not just the tools, but also the training to do the borescope inspection correctly and accurately. Hopefully, the tools can be provided and, perhaps, a qualified individual can get trained within the geography to be sure there can be support for the very few Ascents that are actually physically in the EU because of individuals personally importing them.
IMO Subaru ought to train and equip one or possibly two European service centers to complete this recall. There really is no satisfactory excuse. All of North America is already set up for the recall. This training and equipping can be accomplished very quickly. Heck, Subaru can send a small team to one European location with the equipment for scheduled testing over the course of one or two months time.

Sadly, for regulatory and business reasons, it's a little more difficult than that. And, with Europe being roughly the size of the United States (over 2,500 miles wide, or over 2,800 miles on a East Northeast axis), two service centers wouldn't be satisfactory - not to mention the issues of there being 44 different countries and 24 different "official" languages in Europe.

The techs in each of those countries can learn what they need from STIS, or from the Japanese equivalent of Subaru University, or reach out to a US counterpart via SoA for assistance or training (as some European Service Centers have done).

In addition to what Robert wrote, the Ascent is not marketed in that geography so there's little incentive even for dealers to take the training since the likelihood that they would need to deal with the issue is very, very small. Technically, the warranty isn't even value outside of the authorized sales geography. (Even between Canada and the US, warranty coverage doesn't flow back and forth)

@Robert.Mauro , is the 2.4T with the TR690 even offered on other Subarus in that geography?

I don't know, I am still digging. If I find one, then I will find the proper CVT fluid for J g. I'll be sure to post what I find.

OR, if someone else can find me an OBXT (2021 or newer) or WRX (2022 or newer) in Germany or nearby, I'd appreciate it. Got tons of "day job" stuff to do still.

Hi,
I have a big request to you. I´m from Europe and I have SUBARU Ascent PREMIER (bought in Canada but it is the same like TOuring in the US) MY2020, there is high torque CVT, VIN: 4S4WMARD4L3429070.
I have an issue with my CVT where I have right now already a quite strong vibration during slight acceleration etc. ANd When I asked in SUBARU Czech Republi, or in Europe, they told me only that there is whole life fluid and that it.
So please could you let me know which fluid is for my CVT?
and idealy where I can buy it?

I´m thinking to change fluid like a first step and will see if it will be better.

because there are 2 manifestatios of NOK working of CVT.
--> vibration from CVT dusring slight acceleration
--> torque vectoring even when it is not needed . like during light start on dry and clean tarmac with light turning.

thnx a lot for the support in advance.

I suggest the OP contact John Hurtig who at least from a couple of years ago ran Subaru Europe.

I appreciate you looking into that, sounds like I’m dead in the water until I can obtain the right CVT oil.

Is it necessary to replace the AWD transfer clutch? Or can I keep running it

I may be able to get these over here by way of APO- would they work?

You can try the relearn procedure I posted elsewhere.

Nope, ALL of those are wrong, contrary to the compatibility guides. Those WILL destroy your TR690.

There's only one CVT fluid that works in the new generation TR690's, and it's made by JX Nippon Co, exclusively for Subaru. To date, zero other manufacturers have made a compatible fluid.

For instance, Amsoil (a massive producer/reseller of such fluids) erroneously listed their fluid as compatible, and cost a number of Ascent owners their TR690's. They've since corrected their compatibility guide.

Subaru Germany does not sell a turbocharged Outback, and Subaru Europe doesn't seem to list one at all.

Germany...

Your best bet may be to have a friend or family member in the United States buy and ship some, or get the dealership you're working with to reach out to Subaru Japan or Subaru of America to get some.
