Where did you see this feature and on what trim? My '21 Premium does not have it, and I do not recall seeing it in the specs for Limited or Touring trims

 

Maybe that's only something you get north of the border. Nothing like that on my '20 Touring. Front and rear cameras get an occasional wipe down. The rear washer/wiper does a nice job keeping the Smart Mirror image clear though.

 

Yea, I'm thinking Canada feature. I have to spit on my finger and wipe it manually.

 

Yes, Canadian Premier. My sales guy was pumped to show that to me; our 2020 Outback has it and that one has always worked well. But giving it the finger is a good backup (pun intended )

 

Canadian here with a 2021 Ascent Premier. The car does NOT have a rear camera washer. I’ve checked by trying to activate it. Few months back I saw a YouTube showcasing the feature on a Forester and assumed the biggest-hardest Subaru would also have a camera wash…but no.

Somehow I missed the Canada part. Enjoy it when you get it working again! Has it been super cold? Maybe the line froze.

 

The Subaru Canada website does not note the Rearview Camera on the Ascent -even the top-tier Premier- to be equipped with a washer. Specifications - 2022 Ascent - Subaru Canada - check the "Safety" tab.

It does, however, list a washer for the Outback. Specifications - 2022 Outback - Subaru Canada - again, "Safety" tab.

 

I too am unable to find any reference to a rear camera sprayer on the Canadian Ascent. Can you please take a picture of your camera module?

Backup camera washer

I could not find anything when searching, but can someone post a photo of their back up camera washer. When I try and use mine it just shoots a stream of water straight down it does not hit the lens. It seems mine might be missing a part?

This feature was on my 2020 outback XT and I really loved it esp in winters. Ascent does not have it.

 

I did not see it described for 2022 outback onyx. Do you know if it is standard on all trims?

 

If its available for the Forrester and Outback, seems to hold that it might be a standard part/assembly that could be retrofitted and added to the ascent. There appears to be a good amount of crossover in parts between the models.

I thought about that, but the housing sizes are different. And, (though I could be wrong, because they wouldn't let me rip apart a floor model or dealer stock, lol), I think the cutout in the back is different as well.

Yep. Especially since we can't drill down by clicking the images. It makes sense in some ways - makes it easier to classify parts. But it's a pain for us who don't have access to the Parts Department system. When I was doing work on my Outback, I'd regularly be bugging my parts guy at the dealership I frequented.

 

So, I checked back with my sales guy, who thinks he showed it to me in an Outback, which of course is not true, as I was picking up my Ascent. But I definitely recall seeing water over the lens; it must just be dripping off the window, which is all I get now and not really effective. Back to rubbing it with a finger . And one more useful feature that is on the Outback but not the Ascent.

 

wash jet on forester is not attached to the camera , its not touching it at all..

physical dimensions on camera for forester and ascent look to be same too
part number can be different to all other reasons , like different angle lens, different wire length, different connector .. etc...

 

I was backing out of my driveway today and turned on the rear window washer (2023 Ascent). Lo and behold I saw a waterfall of water washing over the rear camera image! I did not think the Ascent had this.

I thought this was a Canada-only feature. I had actually checked when I first got the car and did not see a typical water nozzle. It turns out it's not a sprayer, but more of an "oozer" lol.

 

2022 and 2023 Ascents have it. I am going to try to make one for the front camera. I also want to see how easy it is to refit an earlier Ascent's rear cam (I don't use mine, so, that's a back burner project).
