I have the Swagman swing hitch. I would ike to get a bike rack for it (one for a 29er, 26 in and a bmx bike). I was hoping for a vertical bike rack bc it will be easier to park, but I will do a platform. Any recommendations?

I‘ve had a Yakima Holdup for a number of years without issue. Running four bikes on that. If I had to buy a new one today, I would be interested in a Oneup or Kuats just for a change.
I've had three Thule's platform hitches over the last 5 years. Old T2, Epos 2-position and Epos 3-position. The epos does not fold up but dismounts and parks soooo easily in the corner of the garage out of the way quickly (if you make a small platform out of a furniture dolly). It carries 2 e-bikes these days each over 60 pounds.
I get what you are saying now. I would think a vertical hitch would still work as long as the rack you choose and bikes fall into its maximum weight of the swing out device. I haven’t seen a swing out with a vertical rack combined myself. I also haven’t seen a platform rack combined with a swing put either.
One thing to keep in mind is that you will be suspending the weight farther out from the hitch receiver so that results in a bit less weight handling due to the laws of physics. This situation is different than tongue weight. If my recollection is correct, in a discussion a while back about carrying a scooter/motorbike on the back, it was stated that 300' or so was about the max for this kind of suspended weight.
