I went to start my 2022 Onyx this AM and grrrrr.....clllllickkkkk. I tried to jump it with a jump-pack, no go. All the dash lights flashed furiously with the accompanying beep, beep beeps. I called the local Subie folks, described the issue and they said they would send a tow truck and a loaner. Well, several hours later, no response. I drug out a 50 amp charger and an extension cord from the house. After a 4 hour 50 amp charge, the car started.
I called again and said I'll bring the car in and pick up the loaner (a 2022 Ascent Touring with only 5K miles). The car is due for the ground bolt recall and another free oil change, so I'll let them figure out why the battery died for the second time in 6 months. The service writer said, "We see a lot of dead batteries, and there is even a lawsuit about it". She didn't seem surprised about just another one. I mentioned the service bulletin about a better replacement and she was aware of it.
As an aside, my 2017 Sonata Sport Turbo (with half the electronics) came from the factory with a 740 CCA AGM battery, which was still going strong 5 years later when the car went to my GF. Subaru has been "Penny wise and Pound foolish" with their choice of OEM batteries.
