I know people make fun of our winters in Michigan, but this seems a little over the top...lol. It's only October! We have 6 months of winter?!

Winter tire folks start eying the coming year's offerings as soon as July 4th is over.....

The debate usually really heats up in September/October as the overseas testing and enthusiast sources start to bring forth their testing results.

Thank you for taking the time to post this as many folks have noticed the averages as well. We are certainly not poking fun at the Michiganders. The data we use is the averages of the last 10 years of weather records by zip code, from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This is also not based on snow fall but temperatures as winter tires begin offering benefits when the temperatures are under 45 degrees.

Interestingly, I was just talking to a friend about setting our Michigan trip for the beginning of April when Silver Lake Sand Dunes opens back up. We want to visit there and some of the northern parts of Michigan where all the pretty forests and waterfalls are.

That would be pretty depressing if I looked and saw that on my screen... Hopefully that's mostly "mild" winter! haha

I like the idea for this, and suggest that a tweak to the messaging may make it less confusing. Perhaps something like, "there are x days of winter weather [or conditions] remaining," or something to that effect...so it's not read as if you're suggesting the actual season is longer than it is.

Yea, suggesting the season seemed the most confusing. Though if you are going off temps that too can be confusing as all seasons can run....all seasons.

Anywho, just funny. I always laugh when people think we have snow year round or that every city is in a cornfield.
