Clearly is connected to my home network via wifi.

I just updated my 2019 non-HK head unit today. In the past I was able to use my phone as a hot spot by linking the head unit to my iPhone. Today, the head unit asked me to install the Aha app on my iPhone first. I installed the app on my phone and registered. Then I went back to head unit and clicked on "check for updates". At that point my iPhone Aha app showed a screen with Starlink on it. I clicked on that and the car started to download the update. It took about a couple minutes to completely download the files. The head unit then rebooted and showed an update progress screen as it went through the update progress. After about 5 minutes the head unit rebooted once again and the update was complete.

Don't bother using your house wifi to try and update. I have a mesh router and my car sits no more than 30 feet from one of the access points, and I've never been able to update via wifi even though I get a great signal from my mesh router to the car. Use your phone as the hotspot and it works great.

The printer in my house won’t connect unless my phone or computer is connected directly to the signal coming out of the gateway but not the mesh unit, which is made by Google in my case by any means a name brand.
I use an Access Point I set up outdoors in my workshop near my driveway for updates. The head unit doesn't like low signal (as far as the car thinks of it) for updates, and will complain there's no connection.

To work around that, I temporarily use my phone's hotspot, then remember to remove my phone from the head unit settings (otherwise it will continuously check for updates and pop up notifications).
Yeah, I also have an extension AP (in the garage, above the car, used for outdoor cameras), and also tried phone hotspot. No dice…..

That's VERY odd. If you need help diagnosing it, let me know. Maybe we can set up a Teams or FB Video session.

You might have a firewall blocking the Ascent's connection or the server that the Ascent is getting its download from.

That could well be. I'm too lazy to go dig for that though. The cell phone method I describe actually works, so this is my go to method.

Yeah that was the first thing I looked at, as I have had firewall issues with work stuff in the past. No dice, even after disabling all firewalls on my network.
Finally the AHA app worked (no update available, after all this nonsense lol)….which I immediately uninstalled from my phone because the app is so useless and annoying outside of updating a car.
But still stumped why the car cannot check for updates via ANY wifi……

You can also be experiencing a server outage when you're trying your update. I couldn't use MySubsru for several days this week. Nothing changed on my phone and today it started working again. Never received an error message or a service outage notification just a dead app. When you use your phone it can be going to a completely different mirror site.
