My ‘22 Ascent doesn’t count yet. However, my wife’s ‘17 Outback (bought new) had its original battery…until my wife left her rear hatch open in our garage on Saturday night two weeks ago. With factory three year battery at five years old, and considering there is a Facebook group for Subaru dead batteries, and I couldn’t jump it as garage too full to pull in next to it, and I don’t know how to release gears, emergency brake, or steering wheel I replaced with Auto Zone battery for $200. Life is good.

My 2019 Ascent is still only at 29,000km is on its original still. I've been periodically trickle charging it to keep the battery topped up.

Maybe I should stop charging it after receiving this letter 😝

From Subaru Canada last month; they have extended the warranty for the battery to 5yr or 100,000km as part of their customer satisfaction program at 100%.

If that original battery is every replaced within the extended period as stated, the subsequent battery is covered to 8yrs or 160,000km at a sliding prorated scale starting at 100 to 60%
