Remember that impressive move made by Volkswagen 2 years ago, offering this industry-leading warranty?

"Effective for the 2018 and 2019 model years across virtually the entire Volkswagen lineup, the outgoing warranty furnished bumper-to-bumper coverage (including powertrain) for six years or 72,000 miles, whichever comes first. That exceeds most bumper-to-bumper or powertrain policies by one to three years. It’s also fully transferrable with no loss in coverage"

Well, you can forget about it.

It's been canceled for 2020 models! NIXED!

The bumper to bumper warranty is still longer than the Subaru b2b warranty, although the powertrain is shorter.

It's a smart decision for them, they're probably selling a lot of Atlas and Tiguan models now, which is a huge profit maker for them, and they don't need to do this anymore.

And no I'm not defending them, or looking to start an argument. The biggest reason we didn't go with the Atlas was concerns over long-term reliability, even with the big warranty at the time.

Manufacturers offer longer warranties to address problems with their reliability reputations. Without these longer warranties, the cars would not sell.
