The Loyalty Rebate can be used with VIP pricing. The Loyalty Rebate is...a form of payment. Your dealer doesn't even need to know about it until you're at the signing papers and paying point of the process. It should NEVER be introduced while negotiating price on a non-VIP purchase, either. That's your money, not the dealer's.

What happens if you buy with Subaru VIP pricing and you have a trade-in, but you need to keep the trade-in until the new car arrives? The new Ascent will be replacing our 2018 Outback.
I completed this type of transaction about one month ago. I traded in my 2019 Limited for a 2023 Limited. You place the order with your vip documentation and simply wait until the vehicle arrives. At or very close to the time or arrival you will be able to negotiate the trade in price - two seperate negotiations (although the vip is not a negotiation). When the vehicle arrives you will actually trade in the vehicle at the agreed upon price and pick up your new vehicle. The day of pickup will be the day you pay for the vehicle (cash or finance or any combination of each). If you are financing or course, you should have that set up for the car you want ahead of time unless it is happening during the week, during the day so they can confirm you qualify. You can use Subaru financing if you are tier one or two auto credit score and get the lowest rates.

I ordered ours on 8/16/22 and locked in a trade in price on our 2022 at that time. A very fair one I thought. They honored that price over 2500 miles later the first week of November when we bought the new one

every dealership handles the trade in market valuation differently given the recent volatility of the used car market. some are willing as Steve70 stated to provide an offer within certain mileage range and some want to wait until the last moment.

Like Packout mentioned, trade-ins are dealer specific. Some will honor a trade in number until delivery of the new vehicle; I suspect most will not. That's the singular risk and right now it's a bit bigger with used vehicle pricing slipping quickly. When I had my Ascent on order, I actually wasn't happy with the trade-in quote I got from my dealer and decided to sell what I was driving then privately. Since I got a buyer only one month in to a two month wait (at the time), I borrowed a vehicle from a friend for slightly more than a month...but would have happily paid for a rental if necessary, as the price I got selling the old vehicle was substantially more than the trade-in and well beyond the sales tax advantage in my state for trading in. The trade-in value also wasn't fixed and I suspected it would go down once the new vehicle arrived two months later.

So it's a dance...you have to weigh the risk and responsibilities of immediate trade-in or private sale vs waiting and having a potentially lower trade-in value due to the market or an unfortunate accident, etc.

I honestly doubt it will return to 2% below anytime soon, if ever. But that's just a gut feeling.

Subaru does not pocket that $500, so the sales price for the vehicle is dealer invoice. The doc fee is not controlled by SOA. that is negotiated between dealer and buyer.
Correct, it's a cost but not in the actual price. And not everyone has to pay $500 to get their VIP price at invoice either. Some are members of organizations for 6 months so get in for a lot less. If I had known about this earlier, I would have joined way back and saved more money. I bought my last two cars (Outbacks) in Denver and I included my transportation costs in the overall cost, but the dealer price was the price I paid.

I never meant to imply that Subaru pocketed any money, but our cost with this program is $500 over invoice before any additional fees are added in by the dealer. That the $500 goes to a worthwhile org is immaterial. You can't get the deal without donating.

My net savings was $560. Still worthwhile and good donation too.
