Is there a path for the air to go after the intercooler? Or just dissipates in the engine bay on the manifold, etc?

I'll agree everything looks pretty serviceable. I was pretty shocked to open the hood and see a charge air cooler and no plastic shrouding covering everything.

The hood strut is necessary to provide mechanical assist when warranted, like a heavy steel hood. The Ascent has aluminum, very light, hood. I prefer a steel rod over strut simply because there's no maintenance

Also a steel rod doesn't wear out and fall on you.
