Trunk light 2023

Good morning,
Question for 2023 Ascent owners. I was wondering if SOA addressed the trunk light issue and if the 2023 Ascent had a better trunk light system. In the previous model, the single light on the left was useless especially if the trunk was full.
Thanks.

no they have not, but there are many lighting options to easily resolve this issue. Many of them can be read in threads in this forum. Use search engine. I have posted mine and others have similar variations. They all work well, are inexpensive and easy for DIY.

it is a bit strange to me they haven't addressed this issue on the Ascents yet. The new Crosstrek Wilderness has a cargo light on the hatch.

Maybe for the 2024. What I did, I installed 2 leds not in the hatch but in the trunk (right and left) and soldered the connection to the actual trunk light (a light within the hatch could work but is not ideal in my opinion).
That's a great idea. Nicely done
Thanks

@Lacrepe37 Can you share where you got these interior lights? Looks awesome!
it is what I did, Not my post but as you can see on the second page, I shared a picture of the final result

I use lights I saw mentioned in the forum several years ago. Take a look at Rear Cargo Light (Follow-up) and scroll down from there. You'll see pictures from original poster and a bit further down there is a nightime picture of rear area of my 2019 Touring with one of the lights mounted on the trim at top of the opening. I use the same lights in a couple closets that don't have interior lights.
$23 for two lights. Less than five minutes to open the box, mount the metal strip to trim with double sided tape - I used heavy duty outside mounting tape, the originals aren't strong enough to hold light on ceiling. Light is held in place magnetically. Light comes on when it senses movement - or you can switch it to constant on. I've never had light fall down.
