Trailer Hitch Receiver

Does anyone know yet if the trailer hitch receiver is included and if so, which trims it is included with?

I heard from one YouTube video (can't find the link now), that it will have a Class III receiver that will be hidden behind the middle piece of plastic in the bumper. I just don't know if its an option, accessory, or included. I was hoping to see that in the release today, but didn't find it.

Nothing concrete yet, but I came across the same article. You can't even build the vehicle on the site yet.

I would suspect receiver in touring packaage, hitch extra. Just a guess.
The marketing materials I’ve seen state the “class III trailer hitch is available” so I assume you’ll have to choose it as an accesory that’s factory or dealer installed. Hoping the online configurator comes live soon to confirm.
I've been looking for towing information as well. I hope that Subaru allows, or even recommends, the use of a weight distributing hitch. And that they include a 7-pin connector and wiring for a brake controller. Having a 5,000 lb towing capacity with a 4-pin connection and prohibiting a WD hitch (Highlander) really means that you can't safely tow 5,000 lbs. I emailed Subaru, but their response was that no information had been released.
Below is the body of the email I received from the dealership that I go to. It has some details, including accessories and associated prices.
Retail $499 for the Trailer hitch.

Factory Hitch Receiver?

Hi Everyone,

Looking to pre-order the Premier and wanted to get a factory installed hitch. Dealer I went to (in Ontario, Canada) says hitches are installed at the dealership - I would have thought a factory hitch would be integrated and blend in better

Anyone able to order a factory hitch? if so, is there a code I could give the dealer?
thanks!
Nope the physical hitch is dealer installed. Not a big deal, but many dealers charge stupid high install fees. My mom was quoted $850 for her legacy. Took me an hour and the hitch cost $130. Direct bolt on to factory mounting points.
Hitch

My research led me to KBB and they have invoice and MSRP prices. I also found information about the hitch. It seems the vehicles rated for 2000lb get a 1 1/2 class hitch and the 5000 get the 2" with two electrical hook ups, I thing 5 and 7 pin. I have a limited on order rated for 5000lb towing and was quoted the invoice price when I ordered.

Not sure that I am correct but all my info says it’s available as a factory installed option...I ordered my Touring model with it....
Trailer hitch (0C7) $499.
Class III, 2" trailer hitch, with 4 pin connector..and 7 pin
My dealer added it to my order for $374. Touring Class III. I got the cost from KBB and ordered it asking for invoice pricing for PP#2 and Hitch and that was acceptable. Don't care if it is factory or dealer install. Looking at the video of the hitch, it looks like it is not an easy install considering the multiple electrical ports.

That's a great deal. Might go back to my dealer and ask for that too. By the way, do you have a link to the video? Wanted to see too if that is something I might be able to do. :)

Looks great! :)

Just wondering now if the rear bumper will have that cover if you don't order the hitch. I hope that comes standard so that there's no need to replace the bumper as well when you get the hitch after.
^I'm willing to bet that it will comes w/ the cover. Based on my analysis, Subaru is err on the side of laziness. Examples: key cylinder of push-start-button has a cover instead of new shroud; and non-turbo model has one exhaust and a cover in lieu of 2nd exhaust pipe.

I do hope that is the case. Will save me from grief if I decide to install the hitch myself.

It can also be installed at the dealer after it is delivered to the dealer....More expensive to have them install it...
On NADA Guides why is DEALER installed Trailer Hitch is $382 MSRP (same price is on Costco) while PORT-installed is $499? Am I missing something here?
^that's gotta be a mistake. The $382 is factory installed (per Costco build sheet) and port/dealer is $499.

During factory assembly, it's a cake walk to install the hitch as it's integrated into the assembling process. For the dealer/port, there's no standard process (like a custom install) and should be priced significantly higher.

Well, there's a standard process, but it involves removing a lot of stuff.

BUT, IIRC, the hitch is port install or dealer install (not factory). The price differences are based on different labor rates, parts delivery and other factors.
