Touring Owner opinions?

Trying to decide between the limited and Touring trims...

For any Touring owners, how are the main features of the Touring? Have you felt that it is worth the extra coin? The main things I’m thinking of are the ventilated seats, front camera, smart rear view as well as the upgraded leather and HK stereo.

One thing I’ve never considered needing is a front view camera, what’s your real world use/benefits of it?

Thanks a lot, I appreciate any responses!

Well it was 96 here in Portland today so I really enjoyed the ventilated seats. The front camera I’m digging as well, makes parking easier and maneuvering tight parking lots much nicer. Come October the rain sensing wipers will get used every day unfortunately. The smart rear view is nice. Kind of cool it walks you through homelink setup. One of my favorite things though is the tri-tone interior. You have the ivory and the Java brown with the black and the wood accents. I feel like it comes together really nice.

Smart mirror is really cool. Did not get to use it for real, so not sure whether it’s a gimmic or really helpful.

I paid for Touring only because of front camera. I would prefer front sonars like my Now sold Sienna van. But camera is better then nothing.

Vented seats are nice. But as was discussed on the other thread, for me they more of the prevention from getting hot rather then actively cooling.

Really like upgrades steering wheel!!! Looking forward to use heated steering wheel after day of skiing.

Overall very happy with touring trim.

Not sure if led steering connected headlight and adaptive high beams come on lower trims, but this is just amazing. Combined with led fog lights, I have never had a car which is so nice to drive at night (which will super awesome during seattle dark winters).

Smart rearview mirror was very useful and functional. We went camping and had to pack the back area to the top but Smart mirror allowed me to see everything while driving and backing up. If I had a standard mirror, it wouldn't be so nice because would depend entirely on the left and right side mirrors.

Front camera is very useful for parking. Very accurate, for example, the red marker means about a foot and the closer edge point is actually the edge of the front bumper. The side markers is about the width of the car taking in account of side mirrors.

I think the Touring is worth if for the front camera. While the front of the car is nearly straight down it is still hard knowing where the corners are exactly.

Ventilated seats do work and I confirmed they suck air in like the Audi Q7 does instead of blowing air out. I'm not sure if this is better but it does keep your back from sweating. This was my primary reason for getting the Touring model and the only thing that worries me is the fan is a bit loud when I first turn the ventilated seat on. I'll have a video I made but haven't checked to make sure you can hear it before I post.

Adaptive headlights are really nice but the lights are so good on the Ascent that I'm not sure they are needed.

I like the Java brown interior as black interior tends to run hot and the light interior shows a lot more dirt. (this is my opinion)

The rear camera while neat isn't needed unless you load up the car a lot as the visibility out the back is fantastic in my opinion.

When Subaru does a Touring in 8 passenger, my 8 passenger Limited's gonna be traded. Kinda strange that they offer a rear visibility camera in a car with less passengers. You'd think that would be more important when you have more people obstructing your view...

I think obstruction really comes form 3rd row. I did not have 3rd passengers yet, but that’s how it was in my van. Based on location of 3rd headrests I anticipate similar thing.
So far I am happy with all the touring specific features and have used one or all of them during each of my drives in one way or another.

I am now wishing I could afford the extra and go with the Touring! dang it.
Ventilated seats: although I wished I ordered the touring for the front/rear cameras, I personally am glad I don’t have to deal with perforated seats. For those of you who have young kids or messy eaters, perforated seats are notorious for getting small crumbs or liquids into the holes and they’re near impossible to get out.

Ya know, I never thought of that. the front and rear cameras would be the major selling points; and the 110v outlet .
crowdc;30481 Ya know said:
I was bummed out about the same things, but you can at least easily solve for the 110v outlet with a $20 inverter.

Example: https://www.amazon.com/Foval-Power-...+converter&dpPl=1&dpID=51eYY-4pqFL&ref=plSrch
I bet there has to be a way for us non-touring owners to order the parts for the 110v. Thanks for the link!

My kids are banished to the 2nd row pretty sure they aren’t perforated seats beyond the front row.

Little late on the reply, but...

The front facing camera makes parking a breeze. I mean, I love the car, but it's pretty big...

It's been hot as ****, so I definitely agree that the ventilated seats are awesome.

The stereo sounds preeeeety amazing. I know it seems ridiculous to be driving around in an Ascent listening to Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and other heavy/weird stuff cranked up, but I don't care because it sounds so great.

The moonroof is huge, and really cool.

The Touring leather is just gorgeous. I had already decided on the Touring for my family, but we looked at the other trims while we were at the dealer, and this leather takes the cake easily.

Did you leave the rearview mirror camera on the whole ride? is that ok to do? or is it one of those things where you can use it for a little while when needed.
@JR325: Left it on for the whole ride. Even on normal daily commute, I leave it on because it gives an unobstructed view of whole back area easily.
Power Outlet only in Touring?

My wife and I just ordered a limited, is the power outlet only in the touring?

Yes. It's an interesting omission from the accessory list.

I have a small inverter that’s been to several countries plus every road trip in several vehicles. It’s essentially the same thing only portable and we only use it for the laptop while on the move. ie wife working during long trips. Of all the features in the Touring I found it odd it’s even offered. For sure not a big deal or a common thing to be used.
