of 1.5" foam board insulation. Took angling them and tying the hatch partway open. Plus I got to listen to the warning beeps for the 10 minute drive. I think I would've had to rip them down to about 6'10" L to shut the hatch.

Nice that you could get them in.

FWIW: I'd have reservations about driving with the hatch open with it having the power TG mechanism. When manually opening or closing the hatch, it feels like I'm forcing the gear train and motor to turn. Doing that a lot and fast on a bumpy road may be problematic.

Unibody construction is at its firmest when the hatch and all doors are closed, so, for long or bumpy drives, or when a wheel is in the air, it's always best to have it closed.
