The Explorer has 3 rows, so I guess it's tied with the Ascent for safest 3-row. I'm actually quite surprised with the Ford!

I could have compared other factors that also affect safety. The Ford Explorer is not even among the Top Safety Pick+ for some reason.

The two EVs who scored a "good" don't have a 3rd row that sits adults.

I think I recall that the Subaru Ascent was tested and passed a future yet-to-be released 3rd row safety test. Can anyone confirm this?

I haven’t been able to find the similar updated test from IIHS for Luxury SUVs? MDX, Q7, etc aren’t much more in cost compared to top trims so was curious how they compare in the new tests.

It will be interesting to see how the completely redesigned 2023 Honda Pilot does in the most recent testing. I imagine it will have improved ratings, but who knows.

Honda is obviously going after Subaru pretty hard with their latest trims. I love me a good Honda, but it’s no Subaru…
