Larger is better, at least that’s what the North America automotive market seems to be saying with increasing utility vehicle sales. So Subaru may as well capitalize on that while the segment is hot with their new 2019 Ascent 3-row crossover SUV.

Last time we saw a three row from Subaru was in the form of the Tribeca, a vehicle that was first introduced in 2004 before dying a slow death in 2014. Now it has a successor in the Ascent, which is expected to debut in just two weeks’ time at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Before then, we’re given a glimpse of its backside in a teaser image though not much can be gleaned from it. All we can make out from this image is a black rear bumper, silver sill plate and the small Ascent badge though the eagle eyes from CarScoops says they can see an upright tailgate and wraparound taillights as well.

With how tight lipped Subaru has been, much about the Ascent is still hidden though it is said to be based on the company’s new Global Platform. Maybe we’ll see a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine sitting on that platform.

The LA Auto Show will be publically open on December 1st, but international press days starts on the 29th and that’s when most model debuts will take place.
