Subaru will be officially unveiling the new 2019 Ascent at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month during press days, but before then, spy photographers caught a camouflaged prototype on public roads.

Most is hidden by bulky camouflage, but a few design elements still peeked through, some of which Automotive News says is similar to what you’d find on the latest Outback, Crosstrek and Forester. Perhaps you can spot the similarities in the test mule’s grille, headlights, lower body cladding and roof rails.

Even if you’re not one to imagine what a vehicle could look like under camouflage, that’s fine because Subaru has released two teaser images of their latest three-row crossover. One of a side profile partially hidden by shadows and another of the Ascent’s rear end.

The former gives us a sneak peek of the vehicle’s interior using clever lighting and it highlights the model’s wheel arches, which seems to have been taken from the concept that debuted back in April. As for the back end, we’ve already taken a close look at it last week and you can read our take here: Subaru Releases Ascent Teaser Ahead Of LA Debut.

Powering the Ascent could be a turbocharged horizontally-opposed 2.4-liter flat-four with direct injection, but this is purely speculation and we won’t know of its full powertrain details until next week.

Wow, I don't know what to say because its boxy design was one reason i was interested to begin and looking at spy shots right now, there's only so much they can hide, you can easily its taking on a rounder profile similar to what the current generation Pathfinder has going on. To make matters worse this will be the first time we have ever seen something like this from Subaru, little to no history to suggest what else we might see.
