Subaru’s first attempt at a seven seater back in 2006 didn’t pan out as expected and the B9 Tribeca failed to win the hearts of North America. “For 2019, Subaru took everything they learned from the Tribeca and gave the Ascent exactly what Americans wanted: more room, power, luxury, and capability”, said Redline Reviews.
Offered in seven or eight seat configurations, the new Ascent has space in spades. Not only is it a family hauler with 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume, there’s an impressive 47.5 cu-ft of cargo space behind the second row. If that’s not enough, the second row van be folded down to provide a good 86.5 cu-ft of space and the Ascent offers 5,000 pounds of towing capacity.
Also upgraded is the interior, which now has a more modern touch thanks to an Android Auto and Apple Car Play compatible infotainment system, optional eight-inch touchscreen display, plenty of soft touch plastic, and leather-trimmed dash panels in the higher-end trims. Though the standard model won’t be lacking in features either with Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure as standard.
There’s much to like in the new 2019 Subaru Ascent and Redline calls it a “must drive” if you’re on the market for a three row SUV.
