Fam,

Has anyone been able to put running boards or step bars on their Subaru Ascent. If so, please provide the part and website where you purchased. If you could provide a review and impression that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

None so far. I would think running boards would ruin the vehicles height clearance.. no bueno imo

Depends on where the boards mount in relation to the bits on the underside that also hang down. I think it's doable without impacting ground clearance.

LP Adventures makes rocksliders for the Outback and Forester.l that could double as a side step without impeding clearance. The Forester ones would work well on the Ascent if given more length.

I’ve inquired if they will make some for the Ascent but I believe they don’t have enough interest yet. If enough people email them, they may add them to their offerings.

My friends at Primitive Racing are making Docol R8 rock sliders for the Ascent. I am not sure how far they will stick out, but, the Ascent has the "issue" of that door edge that sticks down very far, limiting running boards and sliders in a way that eats breakover angle.

I second the motion for Primitive Racing to make some rock sliders/steps for the Ascent. I'll email them and add my vote for the project, for whatever it's worth.
