My 2023 Onyx limited has speed limit recognition I can have it on my dashboard or near my speedometer. It does feature navigation outside of just maps.
No, that's not speed limit recognition. It's just data from TomTom Navigation Maps. And, it's not always accurate.
As a matter of fact, early on after the Ascent's release, we identified a bug in the software that would show "25 MPH" many times when it didn't have a speed limit in the database. We pushed for that to be fixed, and thus, all Ascents (whether 2019-2022 on Harmon Kardon units, or 2023 on Denso units) will show nothing if it doesn't know the speed limit, instead of "25 MPH" as it did in the 2019's initial firmwares.
Speed limit
recognition based on signs will come with
Eyesight-X (assuming we get all the current features in the Japanese version). We will not see that for a few more years, because our roads and signs are horrible, and require more extensive testing, tweaks and coding.
The 2023 Ascent is running Eyesight 4, which is an interim version between the 2019-2022 Ascent version and the much much much more capable Eyesight-X we don't have yet.
