Does anyone know which Trims of Ascents have Speed Limit Recognition? I have a 2022 Onyx WITHOUT moonroof and navigation. Just trying to see if I should have that feature.

Thanks

My 2023 Onyx limited has speed limit recognition I can have it on my dashboard or near my speedometer. It does feature navigation outside of just maps.
No, that's not speed limit recognition. It's just data from TomTom Navigation Maps. And, it's not always accurate.

As a matter of fact, early on after the Ascent's release, we identified a bug in the software that would show "25 MPH" many times when it didn't have a speed limit in the database. We pushed for that to be fixed, and thus, all Ascents (whether 2019-2022 on Harmon Kardon units, or 2023 on Denso units) will show nothing if it doesn't know the speed limit, instead of "25 MPH" as it did in the 2019's initial firmwares.

Speed limit recognition based on signs will come with Eyesight-X (assuming we get all the current features in the Japanese version). We will not see that for a few more years, because our roads and signs are horrible, and require more extensive testing, tweaks and coding.

The 2023 Ascent is running Eyesight 4, which is an interim version between the 2019-2022 Ascent version and the much much much more capable Eyesight-X we don't have yet.

it doesn't
speed limit recognition is, if camera on the car reads actual speed limit sign
2023 Ascent or any Subaru currently , takes speed limit from maps

I didn't know there were any brands with a visually acquired speed limit reading sign process - I guess other than the Subaru Japanese editions as mentioned. What other brands do this and what others even use front cameras like Subaru? Enquiring minds, and all...

I know theres a tesla owner or two here that can confirm. I believe Teslas do read the signs. I drove a couple model 3's and on their center display they show road signs as well as surrounding vehicles.

I own an Ascent touring, hence my presence here. I also recently bought a Kia EV6. It can read speed signs. I know because some local comedian painted over a 35 sign to show 85. As I passed in the kia it showed the limit as 85 on the display. I decided to ignore that!

I was wondering if that would work. Someone did it on a road near my church last year 😂
