Anyone consider leaving it at home (for those of us in major metro areas)?
Also, since it's external, anyone have a recommendation for a lock?

Chicago - everything is worth somethingStealing it...No, who would do that? what is a spare tire worth to meth head vs the effort.
And leaving it, No ... Unless you are completely hands off and rather a tow for flat tire.
Ah. Didn't know this. ThxMost modern cars with under mounted spares are lowered ie released via a locked space. I doubt Subaru is any different. Lock the car the spare wont be stolen.
I suppose. The opiate-heads around here will steal toilet paper. But I expect that probably DOES have street valueChicago - everything is worth something![]()
Pretty sure this is what insurance is for and it doesn't matter the city. I have lived in Chicago for a lot of years and drug addicts don't want your spare tire or your OEM roof racks. Why go through the hassle of removing those items from your car when there are substantially easier targets parked near byChicago - everything is worth something![]()
I'm pretty curious if a fully-inflated full-size spare tire would fit. Usually the compact spare location of vehicles are designed to fit a deflated full-size wheel and tire assembly.Don't suppose a full size tire would fit in that spot....
