The Smart Rear-view Mirror and HUD were the only two things I didn't see coming. The smart mirror is pretty cool if you're loaded with cargo and can't see out the back window. Hit a button and and you can drive & see like there was no cargo blocking the view. I wonder if they have a different lens higher up in back or use the same lens as the back up camera view.

The HUD sounds interesting, I think I read it only shows eyesight info. I'd like it to show the speed too.

My only gripe are the 20" wheels, alas the stupid larger wheel trend consumers want for looks. I'd much rather have 17" with more sidewall on the tire. Oh well, guess I can change that later.

I like the Limited trim package (primarily the leather and power lift gate) but much prefer the 18" wheel from the Premium. It's trying to compete against Pilot and Highland because that's what they're offering.

I thought I heard in the presentation that it has a separate camera from the regular backup camera. That would make sense since the latter has to be an extremely wide view including "downward" whereas the view appropriate for the mirror would be a longer focal length and aimed differently.

I have 20" wheels on my current vehicle and frankly, like them. 'Tis a subjective thing. :)

racing, the angle of view should be different for the mirror-substitute vs the backup camera. The latter tends to have a more downward and wider angle view to insure the driver can see what's below the bumper. I would hope that the mirror-substitute provides a similar view to the actual mirror with its separate camera...

I can't wait for google glass type wearables to become a thing because then it could mean we get a reverse camera system that's much more interactive and easier to respond to for someone that really wants the process dumbed down.

That's interesting!
How will google wearables work with car rearview camera though? Did they announce some kind of partnership between them and automotive companies?

Does the smart rear view mirror that comes on the Touring trim also include auto dimming and homelink?
I thought I read that somewhere but can't find it now. If anyone has a link with this info and can please share that would be great!

I have to agree as someone who goes down a lot of pot hole filled roads I would much rather have more sidewall, not to mention possibly better MPG!

I read that the dedicated camera for the smart rear view mirror is located in the interior as high as possible on the rear window within the view cleared by the sweep of the wiper blade.

You are correct dedicated camera inside the rear glass and the wiper clears away the area so it can always see!

I have to say I can't seem to confirm this either but I can't imagine they would not include this with the smart rear view mirror as making it an option would probably require you to loose the smart view part.

Yah, I thought the same thing but just can't confirm it anywhere yet. Also, since the side exterior auto dimming mirrors accessory requires the rear view mirror to be auto-dimming (since they all work off the interior rear-view sensor) I don't think we'd be allowed to order that item on the Touring trim if the smart rear-view mirror wasn't also auto-dimming. But I digress.
I guess we'll find out for sure once more info comes out and the gd online configurator comes live.

Is it a similar size? Are they thick enough for beach and light off-roading? I'm getting a Touring with the 20's, and am considering working on doing a trade with someone getting a base or limited who wants the 20" tires instead of the 18's, that way, I at least get the rims - until I can get some ATs for them.

I figure just finding a set of 18’s as people “upgrade or just ask the dealer to swap 18’s with the 20’s which I cant see a dealer saying no too. It upgrades a lower trim with no cost to them ;-)

The rear view mirror/ camera is brilliant I haul kids and stuff alot and would use this feature a bunch. Today my rear view was a mug shot of my dog sitting between his kids.

Do you have a list of accessories for the touring model? My dealer keeps saying they do not have an official list of what accessories are available and I know I at least want the trailer hitch

Good idea I never thought about asking the dealer if they could switch. Only worry is that they might not have any on the lot to change with if they are all custom ordered.

I can pretty much confirm the post with the accessory list.

There's actually half a dozen 'packages' available. But you can always order them a la carte.

Hey it is a dedicated camara so basically you have on for reverse and one that is use when the cargo is full to see behind back.
I was wondering and know it can be done can this cam be tap into and use to record the view to be use as a constant rear dash cam? Since it on the tail gate and almost in perfect angle for it.
With that being said that could be a feature that could come up for the next gens
