Ok so the dealer was very nice after some interesting conversation. They resurfaced the rotors and send me on my way and most importantly they covered it. Good enough for me. Now I have a record that there is potentially an issue with the rotor and it has been looked at in the first year of having the car.

Not much I can do about it now.
I've been through 4 of these visits in 14k miles on my 2021. For a few of them I've had to ride along with the service tech to demonstrate the issue. It's tough to spot with my dealer because the issue is prevalent at highway speeds and when the brakes are warmed up. But my dealer of choose is not near a highway, and in an area with heavy traffic.

But otherwise, once demonstrated they've "fixed" the issue only to have it return. All rotors were resurfaced or replaced across the first 3 visits. In the 4th visit they finally replaced the front pads and rotors. Hopefully this will get me through an entire pad lifespan without trouble. Though, I fear it will return just in time for the road trips I have planned this summer.

Ok I have a 2022 and I am going to the dealer tomorrow because the car is vibrating when braking at highway speed (I don’t know if it is related but it started after my last tires rotation) Wish me luck because I am not planning to spend a dime on the fix. I have 19800 miles on the car. I will keep you updated.
It has not happened in my Ascent.. Not yet at least (will see first 6 month service next month). But this happened on my Impreza. Similar incident, started vibrating after dealer tire rotation. I think its a result of over torqued lug nuts. Most dealerships just use their impact gun to tighten lug nuts. There maybe inconcistenciesbbecause some techs maybe torquing it prooerly, and some don't.

@Robert.Mauro. Maybe there is a way ww can have Subaru look into this. I know its just a "maybe", but it may be a contributing factor.

@B22ONYX Subaru has been very clear with the dealerships that they are supposed to properly torque the lug nuts, and the dangers of not doing it right. Over and over again. I'm saddened when I see it done wrong, especially considering all the shops have the right tools.

If any of you find they're not following procedure, document it and write to Subaru and let them know.

Just an FYI, a bunch of shops have impact wrenches with torque limiters.

I've never picked up a car, from my dealer or anywhere else, that didn't have the lug nuts on too tight. I did an oil change and tire rotation on my Outback yesterday. Since I had all of the tools out I decided to check the lug nuts on my Ascent (recently serviced at the dealer) and of course it was over torqued.
