It's always done its thing. Took me a while to notice it as well, especially during the slow blink stage.

Here is a link that explains all the warning and indicator lights. From this link, click on the symbol you are inquiring about. A box will open to explain it's function. I'm book marking this site.
Subaru Warning & Indicator Lights
That is an awesome site. If only they could integrate it into the MySubaru app. That would be as/more useful than anything else in it.

thanks! just never noticed it ever before yesterday...so made me wonder if for some reason the light just came on. i was also wondering if i accidentally put it in valet mode (but not sure how to even do that).

I know all about the red security light on the dash. But I was wondering about the neon green blinking light by the driver's left knee. We were told it has always been on but IT HAS NOT! They say it has to due with the security system. Our Ascent is 3 years old and this blinking light has just recently started. It is a distraction while driving at night because it is very bright. We can't seem to find anything about it in the manual. Help!

The Ascent security system has NO green blinking light near your knee. That likely means your dealership hacked your harness and stuck in a crap aftermarket security system, even though the car had one that comes stock on all Ascents.

THESE are garbage, and should never have been installed on an Ascent.

The lights are blue, green, red, or amber/orange, depending on which of their garbage is installed.

They come in other versions and with other looks. They're garbage Carr alarm systems. Super high profit margin junk that requires hacking into the car harness.
