So, hubs and I followed Subaru guidelines and advice from this forum. We decided to not disconnect battery and since we had two people one just held the door panel while the other unscrewed old panel and put in sunshade panel ! One thing to note is that sometimes when popping off door not all the white plugs come neatly with panel if that happens just use forked trim tool and gently pop them out from door and re install into panel . It took us about 30 min a side. Looks good only complaint is shade doesn’t really cover entire window . Also part number on actual shade was different from box it came in .

Are you using it for kids in the middle row? If so, do they pull at it when its up?
I've been thinking about the sunshades myself but I may just tint it darker instead.

No need to disconnect the battery to install the sun shades. The only power to the door is the puddle light. Just unplug the cables and set the door in a safe place where it won't fall over and get scratched.
