If Subaru is smart they will give the Ascent a fold away 3rd row like what Toyota Land Cruisers have. There's no one else better to learn from than the best in the business. If they don't then at least make it quick and easy to fold away.

Fold away would be more appealing than removable simply because of convenience, which seems to be a selling point these days and it may be something I'm interested in if they ever sell one. I have rented vans before and it would be nice to have a vehicle than can change to suit my needs.

I would hope it's fold-away-flat...my interest in this vehicle isn't for the 3rd row and it would never get used. :)

There is a thread elsewhere in this forum where an owner removed the 3rd row seats as well as the remainder of the OEM cargo surfaces and put in a platform for a little more cargo space. It was an involved project, but it is certainly doable. The 3rd row does fold flat, but it's slightly raised from the rear cargo area. Second row bench also folds flat-ish, but second row captain chairs do not fold completely flat...they are raised in the front so there is a slight slope.

It's in Interiors in the Technical section, but the original photos are missing because they were some of those lost during the forum migration to this software a few months ago. The OP will need to repost them.
