I really like the Prinsu Roof Rack but they only make it for Toyotas, Fords & Lexus. Wondering if anyone has experience with getting custom aftermarket roof rack platforms made for their vehicles. Perhaps even fitting other make/model roof racks onto subarus.

I am specifically interested in "low profile" roof rack platforms for my Ascent, not a platform atop crossbars. Any ideas or advice is welcomed. Thanks.

"Low profile" rack opposed to "crossbars with platform atop" should reduce MPG impact and loud humming when riding on the fwy. Also, when not in use the low profile rack still looks decent and "nature" imo.

Curious have you tried contacting him? I know he’s done custom jobs for a few guys on the land cruiser boards. Would love to see a prinsu on an ascent!

Slick! So it removes the factory roof rails?

Correct. Prinsu Design roof racks replace existing rails and give a low profile platform with multiple cross bars. Very popular for Tacomas and 4Runners.

I am the first Subaru Ascent to get one made by CBI off-road fab.

I went with "Prinsu Design" which is owned by CBI offroad Fab. You can google and get more photos and info on the company. I was their Subaru Ascent guinea pig, so to speak. They used my Ascent to measure out the design their rack for Ascents and they plan to release the roof rack system for '19 Subaru Ascents (very) soon. You should be able to order from their website or local dealership before this summer (i think). If you reach out and ask, it might help motivate speedier production.

Obviously, talk to them for more details I do not represent CBI Offroad Fab.

It's all original. They took measurements, used their iconic design and fabricated a brand new roof rack for the ascent.

Did anyone happen to weigh the roof rails when they took them off? At 50lbs that rack is nearly a third of the Ascent's roof capacity for when in motion.

I wish more aftermarket wrenching things were thoroughly documented with illustrative photos like those. No need to hunt up up someone's install adventure on youtube with those directions.
