Ouch! At first it looked like a drill bit and I almost replied that it could just get patched. But zooming in that looks like a wide shard of something. Glad they're going to take care of it for you. How many miles are on the tires? Are they going to replace all four?

I got right at 2000 miles. It looks like almost a half dollar shard ripped into it. I don't think I'll need all 4 with only 2000 miles.

For anyone who wants to know - you can purchase the road hazard warranty from Discount Tire on your new Ascent tires and you will be covered. I have done that on my last two new vehicles. Much cheaper insurance than the tire and wheel coverage from your dealer.

Do you mean DT will sell a road hazard warranty on new tires you have not bought at their store? That's new info for me!

This happened to my wife with her last car. I think she had 5 flat tires in around 10,000 miles. Two of those required a new tire (within 3,000 miles of purchase) at $240 a piece. Ended up she was driving near a construction zone that was next to her office. She switched how she drove in so she didn't drive by it and the issue went away.

I have to say it sucks buying the same tires as what came on the car as I feel other tires are typically better than what comes on the car.

Absolutely!! They will sell you a road hazard warranty on your relatively new tires. After looking over the fine print, the warranty will only extend to 3 years beyond the purchase date of the warranty, but for most people the tires will be fairly worn down by then.

Thanks for the heads up. How do you purchase through Discount Tire? Do you just call them to let them know you have a new car? We are picking ours up tomorrow!!!

Do you happen to know--if I have an AWD car, and the road hazard warranty on all 4 tires, and one tire is destroyed--would I get a pro-rated credit on the cost of replacing the other 3 tires as well?

I truly feel your pain. They have FINALLY gotten Kelley opened with four lanes in front of our dealership. It's only been two years. Of course, Kelley between 122nd and Hefner is STILL under construction ... :tango_face_surprise

That's a common theme across Subaru (and probably most manufacturers). The Bridgestones on Outbacks and the Goodyears on Legacy are widely panned by owners and tire websites. You shouldn't expect anything different with the Ascent.
Probably had to cut costs somewhere! I will not replace these with the same brand.

I've just gone in (take the car) and they allowed me to do it in the past. They provide you their road hazard "certificates" and put you in the system. Haven't done it on the Ascent yet, but probably will. Did it on a previous vehicle and it paid off.

I get ya. I hate how slow we are at construction and how all the new Edmond construction is putting in those horrid concrete dividers with trees so you can't turn left or if they put in a left turn spot you can't see around the trees. So dumb.

That is a good question. Or pay for shaving? I'll try to ask when I go pick it up unless Carl knows.
