Bought a brand new 2020 Ascent today and when I got it home we tried to open the trunk. Whether we used the Fab, Inside control or Manual button on the hatch, we have had 3 quick beeps. We made sure all doors are unlocked and the Power Rear Gate Memory Button was not depressed. Still 3 beeps, Hatch does not open!?! The manual says that “If you cannot open/close the rear gate by performing the operation described as follows, a short electronic chirp will sound 3 times (beep,beep,beep)”. However there is no way to address this, Please advise. I want to open my trunk for the 1st time.

Is the car turned on? I can’t get my rear hatch to open when the engine is running on my 2019, even when it is in park. It drives me crazy.

Doors must be unlocked for the hatch to open from the button on the dash. Press the unlock button on the DRIVER side door first to confirm your vehicle is unlocked. You must also press and HOLD the button for a few seconds. It's a safety feature.
