Well, I've shared many other's My Subaru Stories over the years, including my brother's in my former Subaru Outback.

Yesterday, was MY Subaru Story. Someone cut in front of me at the last moment, and my Subaru kept me safe. It felt like being surrounded by a bunch of pillows for a fraction of a second. I'm unharmed, but horribly sad.

That really bites, Robert. But I'm glad you were not injured, at least physically. It's going to hurt in the head, however, as that thang has been a very trusty companion for you over a "yuge" number of miles, including places that no mere mortal normally goes.

So sorry Robert to hear about your mishap.
Glad you are OK and I hope everything turns alright.
It is indeed very sad moment as I have seen your episodes and your love for the legendary Ascent

So sorry that happened, Robert! But super glad you weren't hurt. And I appreciate you posting your story here. Just like every other area of life, driving a Subaru can be filled with both good and bad. Always enjoy hearing about all of your good stories and adventures, and it's nice to know that even a "bad" story like this one still has the happy ending of your Ascent keeping you safe.

Sad news, but the important thing is that you were not hurt.

Your Ascent was a legend, so sorry to see it end up this way. Is it repairable or was it totaled?
It might just be repairable. I'll know soon. Does not look like any frame damage.

I have not seen the damage, but it is hard to imagine that it would be worth it for the insurance company to repair given the airbags deployed and the mileage you have on it (even without frame damage). The supply chain challenges for parts, the high cost to repair, the lower value with higher than average mileage, past warranty period, love scratches etc. My bet is they choose to buy you out.

From the photos is does not look totaled, but the wait for parts might be well into 2023. Glad you came out unscathed. One Subaru owner in Denver has been waiting months for a rear bumper for a 2015 WRX. I looked at the pics on FB and the Subaru definitely took the brunt of the force, but still looks pretty good considering.
