Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for some time, without owning an Ascent, but it was on my short list of future tow vehicles when the time would come to replace ours.
We finally purchased a 2023 Ascent Onyx at the end of Febuary, after looking at some used 2020 and 2021 models.
Here's a pic of ours, tentatively named "Vader". It will be used to pull our 2019 Safari Condo Alto F2114 that we purchased last summer.
This weekend was our first outing with our new setup. I have to admit I'm really impressed with the Ascent's powertrain. I love the linear powerband, and it never feels like it's being overworked, at least in relaxed driving mode where with the trailer I'm being careful, and trying to read the minds of all the drivers around me. I haven't weighed it at Cat Scales, but the realistic dry weight (Safari Condo includes options in this calculation) is around 2700 lbs. I'm assuming around 3500lbs with all our gear inside, so I have a safety margin that I'm comfortable with.
I'm in the Montreal, Quebec Canada area, it will be a pleasure to cross paths with any other members here during our travels.
Thanks in advance for all the wisdom, tips and advice I've found here in these forums. I've learned from what I've read, our first outing was done with no weight distribution hitch, even though we have one from our previous tow vehicle
