Thanks everyone for the tips and advice. And glad everyone is safe from their own accidents. I definitely will update when we get more info. So far it just seems like everything is moving so slowly, and I'm sure the holiday won't help.

Right now, the preliminary quote for repair is $16,729. My insurance hasn't gotten the quote yet but I guess it will be uploaded to their system tomorrow. The repair shop (one that I choose due to some previous work on our old Outback), thinks this is about $10K short of totaled. They still haven't torn it apart to fully see what's going on to finalize the estimate. They also think it's at least 21 days in the shop, not including lead time on parts from Subaru. Thankfully we have another car so we should be able to get by (didn't have coverage on my insurance for that). If it turns out the other driver is insured, we'll definitely pursue a rental.

Thanks again.

At long last, I got the word this morning that the car is totaled. They’re claiming the ACV is $38K and some change. It was in perfect condition with 7K miles. Which seems pretty close.

Thanks again to everyone for your advice on this matter. Guess we’ll be shopping those end of year car deals.

'Glad that you have a resolution finally. If you can find exactly what you want on the lot, that will be great. If not, take whatever rental coverage you have and extend it out of pocket, if necessary, and order exactly what you want.

We ended up with the Hyundai Palisade. I was tempted to trade in my 2015 Legacy for a new Ascent with the 0% financing offer until Jan 4th but there were none on the lot that I liked and it would be at least 30 days to order one. Our dealer couldn't guarantee that once the car came in the 0% would still be available.
