Over the last year, the National Park Service has had their hands full, cleaning up after the two hundred and thirty seven million visitors who've visited the 62 National Parks. Sadly, many of them do not adhere to the #LeaveNoTrace outdoor ethics we all should strive towards. So, I am dedicating this year's vacation time to raising money and awareness for the National Park Foundation, to help out.
All donations go directly from the PayPal Giving Fund to the National Park Foundation
All donations are tax deductible.
And, don't forget to follow my National Parks #AscentAdventure this May 17th-28th. We will be exploring and photographing our Subarus in their natural element, in:
Arches National Park
Canyonlands National Park
Natural Bridges National Monument
Bears Ears National Monument
Vermilion Cliffs National Monument
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
Zion National Park
Bryce Canyon National Park
Capitol Reef National Park - Cathedral Valley
So, follow along to see the Subies tackle over a thousand miles of off-roading and overlanding, to bring you some stellar photos and video of all of those national treasures!!!
A very big thank you to @Discount Tire and @Liberty Subarufor being a big part of this year's fundraiser, and helping to make this possible.
In 2019, we raised $2,500 in public and direct-private donations - this year, let's push past the $5,000 mark!!!
@denvrfan gorgeous!!! A little too far north for our planned route, but, we may be taking the more southernly passes across the Continental Divide on the trip out (eg: Webster's Pass), if the "road" conditions permit.
I definitely need to join one of these adventures...unfortunately not this year. The week before this trip I'm driving with my dad from our home in Miami to the Corvette National Museum in Bowling Green, KY in his 2006 Corvette, visiting our cousin in Bloomington, IL and then driving back home. I get back on the 17th! Considering I need a job, being gone for nearly 3 weeks straight would be frowned upon!! lol
Let's all come together and even if we can't join the adventure, let's give to a great cause!
Wow, we're almost at 20% already!!! Thanks everyone!!! April 1st (after Subaru's big Outback event), I'll be posting all sorts of info about this adventure, and, maybe even a few legs where people can wheel with us through the deserts and forests!

A very big thank you to my friends at @Discount Tire!!!! As those of you who've off-roaded a lot know, it can be "fun" trying to keep your tires balanced, and, tire rotation is vital.
Well, they've just got everything arranged to fit our big schedule, and we're going to take a break, from our 1,500 off-road miles in the middle of nowhere, to go to Discount Tire in Washington, Utah, to get our tires rotated and balanced! By then, we'll all be right near the 6,000 mile mark, so, it will be a nice break from the trails, and, just in time.
Works out SO well!!! There's a Red Robin directly behind them, and a Sonic directly in front of them!!! If you all need some tire work, it's a nice place to stop and grab lunch while they work on your car.
And, while you're waiting for our adventure to begin, please, donate what you can to our National Park Foundation Fundraiser. Please, pay it forward, if you can.

With people looking for ways to get out during the pandemic, our National Parks need all the help they can get, and, here's an easy way you can help... donate the cost of a Starbuck's coffee (or of a couple of 7-Eleven coffees), or donate what you can. Pay it forward by helping me raise money for this great cause.

Today's adventure has been amazing!!! We slept nearly in front of Grosvenor's Arch, in a dispersed campground a few hundred feet away, and got up to off road on the BLM roads off Cottonwood Canyon Road! Here's a sneak peak at the videos and pics we took.
Please help me push my National Park Foundation fundraiser to $2,500... we're sooo close!!!

Wow, I am ridiculously impressed with what the Ascent can do out in the middle of nowhere!!! It got me to places that I would never be able to hike to, like this, behind me, looking into Zion National Park.

Thanks!!! About 2" lift each. The Arches 4x4 Trail to Tower Arch is not Subie friendly without a 1.5-2" lift and skids... and even then, it takes very careful picking of what track to ride.
Wow, thanks to everyone here who contributed or shared my posts!!! We've made our goal, and a few bucks more!!! We've raised $2,525 for the National Park Foundation!!!

While I work on the vids, here's some pics of us on the Arches National Park 4x4 Trail to Eye of the Whale Arch and Tower Arch. We spent almost half of this day's driving off-road.
Big enough to use as a sofa... the Ascent still had to claw over it to pass what was simply the start of the Arches National Park 4x4 Trail to Tower and Eye of the Whale Arches...
The last few 360° vids are transcoding tonight, then I need to assemble the segments so I can edit.
Trip vids will go up covering a day or three each. We'll soon know if the Ascent, Foz and Baja could get through this.

It sure did... but, remember, I have a lift, skid plates, all terrain tires, and many thousands of miles off off road experience all over the country... so, make sure your car is ready, and you're comfortable, before taking any 4x4 trails. But, there's tons more trails there that are suitable for a stock Ascent. I highly recommend the visit!
Oh, yes... I don't plan to do 4x4 adventures- not with my vehicle, defiantly not confident in those affairs. So far, have enjoyed your footage. Thank you for sharing.
Nice! I highly recommend Double Arch. Tower Arch (NOT the 4x4 trail entrance, but the other entrance at the parking lot) is gorgeous, but a hike. Salt Valley Road is suitable for ANY Subaru, but is bumpy from being washboarded. Gemini Bridges is utterly spectacular (across the street to the west of Arches). There's one way up that's stock Ascent friendly - the other way, not so much. I can send you the entrance to the stock friendly side if you want.
Gemini Bridges, from the northern-most side is doable with a bit of off-roading care (blue line). The grey line starting at 191 has a spectacular view. Utterly stunning, but, there's some rough stuff when you least expect it. Possibly doable, but, not sure since I am lifted.
Everything in blue here (some are paved, much are not) is suitable for any Subie. So are most of the roads at the north end of the map. But, they're washboarded badly.
Look up Shafer Canyon Road - doable in any Subie.
Look up Potash Road - doable with care in any Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent or Forester.
