Mac OS Catalina will not let me install the Map update Portal. Is says “Map Downloader Installer” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information. Anyone else have this problem?
Versions are:
Rel_UE.19.22.70
NA 2017.03_6401_28/1254/272294/16226
Which are different from the MY Subaru website.
Yes, I ran into that this weekend. Try moving the installer to your desktop and right clicking then selecting open. It eventually gave me an option to continue.

That doesn't seem to work either as I have been trying it for a few days.
When I look at the software update screen it says the the software is up to date.
This is a 2020 Touring delivered in late December.

I have been having the same issue with my 2020 Limited. I am on the most up to date ios release and have updated the car's firmware via USB. I went to the dealer and they did not have an answer. It is happening to me in any app over bluetooth. All the media I play is downloaded to my iPhone, not streamed.

I will be eager to hear if you find a fix to the skipping as it is quite annoying.
This is the same happening to me. I am not streaming either.

Oh, you're discussing the Crosstrek? The version numbers are a little different, but I can probably help with that. And, if you have Nav, you can check out the most current version at Subaru Map Update Delivery Portal
I don’t have Nav. If you have access to see what the latest version of software for my Crosstrek is, I’m reading REL_ UO.18.43.20. Thanks.

Try skipping the map Downloader link and try from the updates tab once you log in. Not sure if that will work, as I don't have a Mac to test, but people have reportedly gotten it to work from there.

That's an older 2018 update. My notes and info for fixing the presets issues weren't even submitted by then. December 2018 update had the partial fix, and 2019 had the complete fix.

Ask your dealership to update with the latest Crosstrek version of the firmware. Let them know you're losing presets and having some smartphone connectivity issues, and we're told that there's a TSB about a 2019 update that fixes the problems.

I am having this issue also with my iPhone 11 Pro max through bluetooth when streaming music. I just updated software to iOS 13.3.1 on my phone yesterday. Seems to have fixed the skipping issue. It never happened when connected via USB. I don't think it has anything to do with the HK head unit.

Update to the skipping issue. I went to my dealer and he brought me to the service Dept, the supervisor there said I need to use apple approved (only apple) usb cable to connect my phone to the infotainment system. His answer was direct and seemed that he’s heard of this problem a lot lately. So I haven’t heard anY skipping since then but I’m not a fan of apple car play and I don’t like the fact that I can’t use Bluetooth with the Ascent. Bluetooth is SUCH a standard feature. Im not happy about this and I probably wouldn’t have bought the car had I known this before. Secondly, I showed my dealer the difference between the nav version currently on my car and the one Robert sent (thanks Robert). He told me that the one on my car is the correct one. I don’t believe him. This might be my first and last Subaru. Other than that, I really like the car, but Bluetooth makes my life easy (for the last 10 + years with my Fords).

I would be glad to walk you through updating your head unit properly. Also, please message me the dealership name and the names of who you dealt with.

As for the skipping, it's not Bluetooth or the car, but interaction with the iPhone. It's a common iPhone/car problem with the 13.x releases.

Ah, that sounds correct. So connecting the phone with the usb cable the only way to avoid the skipping?

Some people have had better luck on different versions of release 13. I have an Android phone, so I cannot test. Sorry.

I think I have solved the issue. I updated my iOS software this weekend and that alone did not fix the issue for me, but I am now running iOS 13.3.1. The issue for me was resolved by not allowing a share of my full contact list/phonebook. I went to bluetooth settings and "forgot the device" for Subaru BT. I then proceeded to re-add my phone through the car's infotainment system but when prompted to share contacts, I elected no. You also have the election to share just your Favorites and/or Recent contacts which I have done but that is far less data than my full contact list.

I hope this helps!

Thanks. My presets were gone also when I updated my phone the other day. I think I’ll be taking Roberts advice and take a ride to Liberty.

If you're ever on the island, I can also directly help. I am updating mine tomorrow or the next day, and have a USB stick ready already. I work in Mineola, live in Suffolk.

Thank you Robert. I sold my house in Centereach a couple of years ago. We live in NYC so I just made an appointment with Liberty for the 17th so hopefully they will be able to figure out the problem.
