OK I finally figured out exactly what I did and duplicated it several times.

1 Leave drivers door open and start vehicle.

2 Put vehicle in reverse. (Drive will also work)

3 Put vehicle back into park.

4 Exit vehicle and close door.

At this point my remote will not open the car. I suggest leaving the window down if you try this.

What are your settings for auto-lock and auto-unlock?

I will also try it; I was waiting for the OP to confirm steps.
@Robert.Mauro Would you be willing to test this issue?

This seems really odd that OP couldn't unlock even with the FOB.
Sure will.

I have already tried to lock the FOB in the car, and hitting the lock strip on the door makes it unlock all the doors and beep at me, all while the "key fob in car" warning displays on the dash.

The car refused to lock, no matter what I did. After a few attempts at trying, instead of the warning beeps, it just beeped continuously until I opened the door and stuck the FOB inside.

It seems this will only happen with the auto door lock feature set to "Shift Into or Out of PARK"
I changed the setting to "Vehicle Speed" and it will not lock me out.

That explains my failure to replicate it. Mine's set to "Vehicle Speed". Thanks for spending the time to track down what causes it!!!
