Hi All, Ordered and waiting for my new Ascent. Looking to go with a larger tire and was curios if a computer recalibration is needed for the following size or warranty issues .
245/50-20 265/50-20 Difference
Diameter inches (mm) 29.65 (753) 30.43 (773) 0.79 (20) 2.7%
Width inches (mm) 9.65 (245) 10.43 (265) 0.79 (20) 8.2%
Circum. inches (mm) 93.13 (2365.62) 95.61 (2428.45) 2.47 (62.83) 2.7%
Sidewall Height inches (mm) 4.82 (122.5) 5.22 (132.5) 0.39 (10) 8.2%
Revolutions per mile (km) 680.31 (422.72) 662.7 (411.78) -17.6 (-10.94) -2.6%
Any thought's ?

265/50-20 is ~30.6" in diameter (that's what I have on my Grand Cherokee as OEM size) so yes, you'll need recalibration...if that's even available...to account for that nearly extra inch of diameter. (recalibration isn't "easy" on the JGC without expensive gear and the dealer can't do it...I don't know Subaru's approach to that) You'll also need to upsize your spare to match for an AWD/4x4 vehicle to avoid potential issues with the drive train.

I think you'd have issues rubbing the fender if they are that wide. The fitment from Discount Tire recommends the 255/50-20's as the biggest tire. That will then only raise your speedometer 0.9 mph, rather than 1.8mph for the 265.

Go with the 255/50-20. You'll still be wider than stock, but nearly the same height as stock so you won't mess up anything else!

We have, for two years, had 265/50R20 tires on Avuarus (by Avini) 20x8 wheels. No rub or contact lock to lock and over deep dips. Now installing 255/55R20 Falken Wildpeaks.

What size did you end up going with?

Did you go with 255/55R20's? How was the fitment?

How concerned are you guys about the spare now not matching the new tire size?

Yes I'm also curious. The 255/55R20 is 31" tall. Did you install this size without complication?
