Infotainment Screen - Boot to Function or Home Screen?

I could swear that when I first bought our Ascent back in September, that the infotainment screen would boot up to whatever the last used function was... FM, XM, Navigation, etc. Recently I've noticed that it boots up to the 'home' screen and then I have to select which function I want.

Has it always been like this? Am I losing my mind? I looked in the manual and didn't find anything about a default screen setting.

Most of the time, mine boots to the home screen but often enough it starts up to the FM Radio screen that I pretty much always use when not traveling. Regardless, the of the screen, the radio is playing.
I'm on the current software release which didn't change the system from mostly starting up at the Home screen even though I keep it on Map 100% of the time. It returns to the Map screen about 1 out of 4 start ups.

It has always done this and I'd like to be able to set a favorite or default screen on start up.
Ok, we'll its good to know I'm not entirely loosing my mind! Thanks for the confirmation.
Same here. Always leave on FM screen, this week it has been starting to the home screen. Starlink along with the current firmware must be doing this. I mention Starlink because it only started happening this week and I received the current firmware update back in November/early December.
Mine had seemed to be random on previous firmware.

Latest firmware seems to be going to the home screen.
Has anyone found a setting or work around to have the screen return to the last used screen? It's pretty annoying to have it at the home screen every time. Yes, it's only one button tap but it's one more than necessary while driving. And you need to think about what the source is before you hit that button.

I always have CarPlay on, which renders that issue moot, since it will default to the last thing I had on CarPlay (which may not be what I need at the time).

I messed with android auto for about 5 minutes and quickly got annoyed by it so I haven't tried again. Maybe I should give it another look. I just hate having to flip back and forth between screens, particularly when it's necessary to get back to the audio source.

I agree! I have a 2020 Ascent Touring. I always leave it on Sirius radio. It used to show it upon startup every time. Now, it always starts up at home.
I know it is only 1 button to push… but you shouldn’t have to!! I want it to show up at whatever I left it when I turned off the car!
it should be a simple fix for Subaru !?

I just got off the phone with Subaru Customer Service (1-800-SUBARU3). The lady I talked to said it's currently designed behavior that the head unit resets when the door is opened after the vehicle is powered off. She understands that it's a concern, but there aren't enough people calling to do anything about it. So, the best we can do is call and hope they make a software update.
I have the same problem - and I agree with the person above saying it is only one button, but the is annoying. I love my Ascent, but it looks like during the last update or two that change happened.

Has any fix come through yet?
I jast tried 10+ times
