The IIHS released the Ascent's crash test ratings today:

https://www.iihs.org/iihs/news/desktopnews/subaru-ascent-earns-top-safety-pick-award

Overall it is rated a Top Safety Pick+, the highest available overall rating. It got the top "Good" rating all the way across the board, including for the LED headlights on the Limited and Touring models, with the only negative being that the halogen headlights on the Base and Premium trim levels got a "Poor" rating. Here are the full test results:

Hopefully the NHTSA results will come out soon too.

It beats most of its direct competitors (Explorer, pilot, highlander) and on par w/ CX-9 for crashworthiness

The CX-9 only got 4 of 5 stars in the NHTSA front crash test, somewhat surprisingly. So if the Ascent's NHTSA results are 5 stars for the front and side tests, as expected, it'll actually best the CX-9 too.

Wonder if they change headlights on base and premium models?
For what it's worth I changed the headlights on my premium model to bright ass LEDs that cost about 37 dollars on Amazon for the pair of H11s.. Beamtech is the company. So now my ascent is a top safety pick ?
