More than a decade ago, I learned that it was dangerous to drive with the cruise control on when it was raining, or on wet streets. Now that I have a 2019 Ascent, I'm wondering if that advice is still pertinent.
Best practice is to discontinue use of cruise control, including adaptive cruise when rain kicks up appreciably. Subaru's Eyesight system actually insists on it when it can no longer "see" well enough, as a matter of fact. I personally don't feel unsafe with merely a wet street/road, but that's a personal decision on my part.
I haven’t lost traction enough in the Ascent but in previous vehicles I’ve had they all disabled CC if any wheels start to slip or hydroplane. So as long as you don’t slam on the brakes I’ve found it fairly safe.
