Does anyone have experience messing with the Ascent captains chairs? I'm basically trying to figure out if they can be moved forward with a child seat installed in order to access the third row (to put a toddler into another childseat). Obviously there's the middle row access, but access from the door would be ideal.

You probably don't have to fold them at all. They slide on tracks on the floor, and while the locking positions where you could actually use them with the vehicle in motion stop pretty far back, they do slide loose ALL the way up to touching the front seats, which is enough to squeeze into the back. If you do need to fold it, the back tilts forward a bit (with sort of a two-stage thing, so that's not the same as folding flat), with a pivot point about four to six inches? above the surface of the seat, which should be easy to do with a rear-facing seat in there for sure, but maybe not a forward one.

Im pretty sure they slide forward and might have a tip forward action to which allows for the kids car seat to stay put yet giving ok access to the 3rd row.

I remember there's not enough room for an average adult to climb in when the seat is upright position and slide forward.
