Hello, I looked for this answer in the forum but maybe I missed it.
My lift gate is not working. I drive and have constant beeping but the trunk is closed.
I stop and leave all doors unlocked and the car on, I go to the back and hit the button in the rear hear the three beeps and the mechanisms making sounds, keep my hand pressed on the button for a few seconds and nothing.
Sometimes it will pop open other times it will not, I hit the button to close the lift gate but when it tries to latch on it doesnt close and have to push the lift gate closed. I then turned off the car leave the doors unlocked and try again but same issues. I leave the car off for an hour or so and try again and nothing. Last time I had to go to the dealership and wait an hour but there has to be an easier way that does not involve going to the dealership.

Hi! In the car, in front of the driver's knee, is a memory height button that looks like this:
Vehicle Display device Auto part Font Electronic device

Make sure it's off.

Then, get out the car, turn it off, unlock all doors, and go to the rear liftgate. Hold the left most outside button for 12 seconds, or until the liftgate fully opens. It is the button above the license plate, next to one of the license plate lamps.

AFTER it's successfully opened and you can successfully open and close it, you can reprogram the liftgate height memor

Hi! I tried doing that but it doesn't open it will crack open then the lock will stay latched. If I manage to open it I have to manually open then it will continue to automatically open the rest of the way. When I hit the button to close the life gate it will go all the way down but when it's time for the lock to latch a long beep sound comes up then I have to push it shut. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the cargo mat or anything else isn't back just enough to obstruct it from closing all the way?

Thank you I tried but it doesn't fully close. Right before it tries to close shut a long beep sound occurs then the hatch has to be pushed in for it to fully shut

Can you record it happening and share? If you were near me, I'd take a look.

My 2022 Ascent loft gate loses it’s
Mind occasionally, it also uses to do this on my 2020 Outback. Try disconnecting the cable to the negative terminal on the battery for about a minute. This reset everything and works fine. My eyesight system stopped working out of the blue one day and I did the same thing and it worked fine after that. Saved trips to the dealer.
It’s a good idea to keep the right size box end wrench in the vehicle for this. Also, I keep a $70 battery charger in the car. It’s very small and easy to store. This works if you are camping for a few days and you leave the hatch open and or doors open too long. I used this on my previous Outback as well. These things seem to drain Subaru batteries very quickly!!!

Disconnecting and reconnecting the negative battery terminal cable can usually reset all the Subaru screwy computer problems. Also, a mini portable (9”x5”x4” inside case) battery charger can be had on Amazon for $70 or so. I always carry the battery wrench and the charger in my 2022 Ascent in case the doors or hatch get left open too long when camping.

When you put it in park and turn off your vehicle and open your door is it Chiming as well? I just had the same issue, brought it in, and they told me that the car wasn’t noticing that the vehicle I’d in park mode. The mechanic said they needed to make a slight adjustment to the shifter.
