Gear Shifter based on photo?

What do you think about the shifter for the Ascent? Are most Subarus traditional shifters, or do any of them have something that resembles what's in this photo? How do you think it works?

Lots of auto brands seem to be re-inventing shifter design, often with non-intuitive results. Hoping the Subaru Ascent gets this right for the Ascent!

Indeed it look nice and appealing. We'll see the production version next month.
Love the look and how its positioned, even better that we have a big open area right in front of it which will be perfect for our phones. Subaru just better make sure to offer wireless charging. It will be a bad look on them if that isn't standard or at least optional. I think even the 2017 Civic has a wireless charging pad!
I believe that photo is of the Ascent concept car, not the actual production version. The production version from what I can tell in photos is a standard (albeit a bit tall looking) automatic gear shift knob.

I haz a sad.

I’m hoping I can find an aftermarket (short height) swappable shifter to better match the OP photo.

Yes:
All trim levels are paired with a high-torque Lineartronic CVT featuring an 8-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters as well as X-Mode® with Hill Descent Control.
