Look what Rallitek is selling. I think this is much needed if we tow with the ascent. What are your thoughts.

Most models of the Ascent are already equipped with a pretty competent trans cooler. I don't think that that transmission temps have ever been an issue with this machine.

I agree with Cosmo...I doubt there is much applicability/need for most Ascents because other than the Base trim, there's already additional cooling standard, but perhaps someone who is really pushing the limits for a special application.

Does my transmission cooler need a transmission cooler now?

I think one thing Subaru did badly in this situation is how they worded the owner's manual here. Every reference to towing says something like "if your vehicle is equipped with a transmission cooler, blah, blah, blah". Nowhere does it say which vehicles are/not equipped that way. The reality is that probably 5% of the Ascents on the road today aren't equipped with one, but I would guess 95% of owners honestly have no idea one way or the other about their own vehicle.

Specs say it is 4 times larger than OEM cooler. Not sure if that is needed.

Not necessary for 99% of people who own a Premium, Limited or Touring. I've been discussing with RalliTEK what we really need for extreme off-roading, which is a temperature controlled fan on a cooler.

I haven't towed anything (yet), but with spirited driving in that NC Smokeys on Interstate 40, I've never seen the trans temps exceed 192F according to the ActiveOBD app connected to the ECU port.

Agreed.
@ Robert....

Just curious, what are the max temps you've seen when towing or loaded heavy?
