Yes, hold in the cruise control button on the steering wheel until the cruise symbol on the dash changes from adaptive to normal. It will revert back to adaptive when you shut off the car.

Radar (mounted in the rear corners of the Ascents) is used for reverse cross traffic alerts and adaptive blind spot detection in the Limited and Touring (and as an "option" on the Premium).

...is because your car uses the two 3D stereoscopic color cameras mounted behind the windshield to see cars and follow them.You already do - none of our adaptive cruise controls use radar.
