Can you have cruise control without radar?

Yes, hold in the cruise control button on the steering wheel until the cruise symbol on the dash changes from adaptive to normal. It will revert back to adaptive when you shut off the car.

You already do - none of our adaptive cruise controls use radar.

So... this is how you have old-school, regular, one speed and one speed only, no computer control, cruise control...

You already do - none of our adaptive cruise controls use radar.
...is because your car uses the two 3D stereoscopic color cameras mounted behind the windshield to see cars and follow them.

(just in case you were wondering)

Radar (mounted in the rear corners of the Ascents) is used for reverse cross traffic alerts and adaptive blind spot detection in the Limited and Touring (and as an "option" on the Premium).
