Car Jerking When going up hill

Noticed a couple of weeks ago that when driving up hill the Ascent ( 2019 ) would jerk or miss out but not when going down hill or driving on flat land. This is an intermittent problem. The day I took it to the dealership and coming out of the mountains into the valley, no problem. And after staying at the dealership for a few days, they found no problems. The car was also having a break job at 26,000 miles. The next day after picking up the car, the same hill it started to jerk and the RPM jumped around. This car has all the updates, recalls, etc. Notice that Keith99RS also had the same problem but didn't see the resolution. Going back to the dealer on Monday and they plan to keep the car all week to drive in the mountains. Any suggestions what may be going on ? Remember, all updates, recalls, and has premium ags.

Hi! Gas won't be the problem, regardless, and 87 would work fine. Hope you're not paying for the brakes, they're still under warranty. If the car is hunting for the right fake gear, a TCM relearn may resolve that, or a TCM or ECM reprogram. If it's anything else, they'll find it when the SSMv4 captures data showing them what the TCM is doing, what it's telling the CVT to do, and what the CVT is actually doing when it's told to do something.

Glad they're going to be testing it thoroughly. Please keep us posted.

Well, after showing the service manager the video of the panel when it was "jerking" and the sound it was making, the test drive confirmed the problem. I think the video helped the most. They are ordering a new transmission, which will take a week. so we shall see. Are you aware of any problems with the 19 Ascent transmission ? Thanks

Not with the design, no. With the harnesses that came with them, yes. The new transmission should come with a new harness.
